Medical Office Professional
The Medical Office Professional program provides students with training and practical experience to secure employment in the medical field as a medical administrative assistant, medical secretary, medical records clerk, unit floor secretary, or health information specialist. A positive component of your program will include a six week internship with a local medical facility. You will also be prepared to sit for a national certification, which will enhance your employability on your chosen career path.
Your courses will include:

Keyboard mastery, speed building, and document processing

≈Introduction and Intermediate word processing

≈Filing, medical filing, and record keeping
≈Introduction to spreadsheets
≈Business English and math
≈Introduction to operating systems
≈Discovering the internet
≈Introduction to database and multimedia presentation
≈Medical terminology
≈Medical office simulation software
≈Communication, professionalism, telephone techniques
≈Standard precautions
≈Triage
≈Vital signs
≈Introduction to health insurance and medical coding
≈Medical law
≈Medical records management
≈Knowledge of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)

No previous training or experience is necessary, but requirements for the program include:
*   A sincere desire to work as a team member in a professional medical environment
*   A GED or High School Diploma with a minimum of a 9th grade reading and language level. Educational programs are available here for those who do not yet meet the above requirements
*   Physical requirements include the ability to stand, sit, bend, lift approximately 25 lbs., and sit and work on a computer
*   Satisfactory Medical Office Professional assessment results and recommendations from the instructors and program counselor
*   Ability to pass a C.O.R.I check (possibility to close permanent records)
*   TB examination- Possibly a physical
