NURSE AIDE PROGRAM

 The Nurse Aide Training program at MCDI is an intensive, eight-week course consisting of both classroom and hands-on clinical instruction in basic nurse aide skills. The program is approved by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Students who complete the Nurse Aide program are eligible for State certification, and prepared to secure employment in long-term care facilities, hospitals, assisted living and adult day care facilities, and group homes. Graduates of the MCDI Nurse Aide program earn, on average, $9.00-$ 11.00 per hour.

 
No previous training or experience is necessary, but requirements for entry into the program include:
 
* A sincere desire to care for the needs of the sick and elderly.
*       6th Grade reading and math levels. No GED or high school diploma required. Adult Education classes are now available for those who do not meet this requirement. 
*       English speaking, reading, and writing skills.
*       The ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, which include heavy lifting, bending and standing.
* Passing a physical examination.
* Negative PPD or Chest X-ray (for Tuberculosis)
* Passing a criminal offender record information check (CORI).
 
Counseling and Job Placement Services are also provided
